Something for the Weekend

Donegal mix master Colpey Calling selects his new Track of the Week, as well as the Best Track You’ve Never Heard.

Track of the Week

Darkside – “What They Say” (2014)

After their collaboration album in 2013, Darkside – Physic, Dave Harrington and Nicolas Jaar – have mutated their styles into a sound that has touched many people across many genres. This latest single (which I highlighted months ago on Colpey Calling) does exactly that, a track that easily sits in a nightclub as it does in a living room! The arps give it that fast paced late night feel, while the instruments give us that laid back lounge feel – a perfect combo! Thankfully this is just a hiatus for Dave and Nico – they will be back!

Best Track You’ve Never Heard

War – “Flying Machine” (1978)

I am surprised…only 10,000 view on YouTube – my main gauge of if it is known or not. Really…come on…you should have heard this…I would try and write something to sum this up…but, well I can’t. Just. Listen.
