Something for the Weekend

Donegal mix master Colpey Calling selects his new Track of the Week, as well as the Best Track You’ve Never Heard.

Track of the Week

Vessel – “Red Sex” (2014)

This is an incredible track, it is organic, intimate and haunting – most of the instruments are homemade and the percussion is raw. Its groaning melody and distant high hats along with the deep slow percussion create an amazing slow vibe! Bristol’s Sebastian Gainsborough is no stranger to forward thinking electronic music – his debut ‘Order of Noise’ definitely pushed the boundaries of techno – this album leaves behind the drum machines and synths, and replaces them with homemade instruments – metal on metal.  A great track from an amazing artist!

Best Track You’ve Never Heard

Guyer’s Connection – “Pogo of Techno” (1983)

A bedroom in a Switzerland, two brothers aged 14 and 15, two synths, a drum machine and a 4 track tape record – equate to amazing music! It was originally self released in 1983, but re-released on New-York based label Minimal wave this week. This is a simple but beautiful track. Enjoy!
