The first ever show at The Wardrobe Theatre’s brand new home, a shared space with The Old Market Assembly!
Following four incredible years at their old venue, The Wardrobe Theatre has been in hibernation since the summer but now they are back! Come and join them to celebrate the opening of their new home in Old Market this December with their latest alternative Christmas show, Goldilock, Stock & Three Smoking Bears.
The silver-tongued Goldilocks can see that her days of selling moody goods on the cobbled streets of East End London are numbered. But when circumstances leave her on the run from a pack of bears and badly indebted to a notorious gangster, will our young heroine be able to raise the needed ‘bees and honey’ in time whilst avoiding doing porridge?
After the stunning successes of Muppits Die Hard, Se7en Dwarfs, Oedipuss In Boots and Home Alonely, we at The Wardrobe Theatre are overjoyed to be christening their brand new venue with one of their signature, darkly comic, adult only, alternative Christmas shows to serve as an antidote to the season’s usual sickly-sweet entertainment. Goldilock, Stock & Three Smoking Bears is a madcap merging of the classic porridge-thieving fairytale with Guy Ritchie’s cult 1998 cockney caper – and is The Wardrobe Theatre’s biggest and boldest show yet!

Jane Duffus, founder of What the Frock! Comedy and author of The What the Frock! Book of Funny Women, puts an end, once and for all, to the tired idea that women aren’t funny, by celebrating some of the wonderful women who have made us laugh for the past century or more. She also outlines the history and important role of women in comedy on both sides of the Atlantic, and addresses the myriad of obstacles that stand in the way of female comedians’ success.

Kate Paterson: Open Studio @ Arnolfini // Fri 4th – 6th Dec (11am-6pm) // Cost: Free
Witness an artwork in the making, produced by Situations and commissioned by the University of Bristol. Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December at Arnolfini, 10am – 6pm. Free Entry. Renowned for her exploration of the cosmos and geological time, artist Katie Paterson has amassed a collection of 10,000 tree species sourced from almost every country across the world to form a new artwork in Bristol from Spring 2016. Over these few days, the artist and a team of researchers and assistants from the University’s Life Sciences department will sort samples of fossilized trees from the first forests that emerged over 390 million years ago to the most recent emergent species, creating the artwork’s very special interior structure.
