It has emerged that Noel Edmonds is the frontrunner to project manage the new Bristol Arena. According to sources close to George Ferguson, the city Mayor is set to announce TV star Edmonds as the man to lead the £90 million project to build the 12,000-capacity venue.

The Deal or No Deal presenter, famous for driving at 186mph naked on the Tring bypass, and posing as a taxi driver in order to take advantage of bus lanes, has refused to rule out the prospect. “I believe I have the chops”, said the presenter. “I have no real experience of building multi-million pound stadiums, but if my life has taught me anything, a lack of experience, knowledge or talent really isn’t an impediment to building a career. If I struggle with anything, like budgeting or basic management skills, Cosmic Ordering will see me through”.

This is not the first time the Telly Addicts man, who infamously shot fellow television presenter Clive Anderson in 1997, has thrown his hat into the ring for giant infrastructure projects. In a 2008 interview, Edmonds proclaimed that “we need to build more prisons, overhaul the police force and get kids with knives off the street. I’m very straightforward on immigration. The bus is full”.

Asked whether he would mind spending his time with builders and contractors, the controversial multi-millionaire who lives on the outskirts of Bristol, said “I would love to break bread with the common man. I’m renowned for my ability to relate to people from all walks of life, and my TV shows have shown that plebs really will do anything if you offer them enough cash”.
