Preview: Samantha Crain at The Louisiana – Sunday 2nd April

30th March 2017

Folk singer-songwriter Samantha Crain comes to The Louisiana this weekend in support of new album You Had Me At Goodbye, the slyly comic title of which highlights the playful wit that underpins the Oklahoman artist’s Americana tales of heartbreak and austerity. After releasing her first album at the age of nineteen, Crain, now thirty, has toured extensively with a myriad of renowned artists and first came to The Fix’s attention after garnering substantial praise from Johanna and Klara Soderberg of First Aid Kit whom she supported in 2014.

With a melodic ear and deft turn of phrase, Crain offers a tuneful, atmospheric and occasionally raw brand of folk and, in order to realise the full sonic depth of the new record, she will be appearing with a full band line-up that will include members of English rock group The Leisure Society. Now a veteran of the road, Crain is apparently very funny in person and her professionalism as a live performer will be supplemented by her strong reputation for humorous between song badinage.

Having crafted a healthy back catalogue of quality songs, we are very much looking forward to Crain’s Sunday night show; particularly if the opening track to You Had Me At Goodbye is anything to go by – check out the gorgeous ‘Antiseptic Greeting’ below:
