The brainchild and original third member of the Soul Assassins crew with Cypress Hill and House of Pain, Funkdoobiest are bona fide hip hop royalty. Known for their energetic live performances, they have toured with the likes of Ice Cube and Rage Against the Machine, and have cracked out a number of classic tracks, not least the hound hop of ‘Bow Wow Wow’.
Now back together as the original trio after a four-year hiatus, Son Doobie, Tomahawk Funk and DJ Ralph M are celebrating 20 years in the business, their brand of goodtime funk-cum-hip hop sure to be a winner in the intimate confines of Exchange. What is more, the gig doesn’t kick off until 11pm, suggesting that the California threesome are prepared to close down the party.
