Who is that?

Crocodiles are a duo – Charles Rowell and Brandon Welchez – who first came to our attention when they supported Dum Dum Girls at Start the Bus last year.

What’s their sound?

In a similar vein to Dum Dum Girls, Crocodiles are able to create a wall of fuzz with punk sensibilities, but also tend to meander from this through Revolver-era Beatles psychedelia and a Stone Roses stupor. Overall, they rely on a raw sound, highly distorted guitars and sneering vocals.

What are they up to?

Crocodiles have just released a new album, Boys, which is billed “for boys and for girls and for boy-girls and mutants, back-alley poets, thieves, space cadets and alien babes, righteous tricksters, sonic deviants, and everything in between.” Having streamed it in full (have a listen to ‘Crybaby Demon’ below), it’s definitely hard to disagree with this assessment.

Where can I see them?

Crocodiles are touring North America and Europe, stopping off at Start the Bus on 16 June.
