Who is That?

Foxygen is the combined forces of of Sam France and Jonathan Rado, the LA songwriting duo who joined together as teenagers in 2005 to play wildly experimental music before being ‘discovered’ by producer Richard Swift in 2009 and later signed to Jagjaguwar Records.

What’s Their Sound?

Foxygen take their cues from 60s psychedelia, avant-garde pop and the summery sounds of California. With 60s psychedelic pop doing the rounds at the moment – think Temples, Jagwar Ma, Goat – Foxygen offer a more fey, romantic and delicate approach. There is little sign of any sprawling themes or indulgent guitaristry, the tight songwriting offering a kind of faux-nostalgia for tape decks and bonfires on Long Beach.

What Are They Up To?

Following 2012’s full-length We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic, which featured excellent tracks like ‘No Destruction’ and ‘San Fransisco’, Foxygen released the double LP …And Star Power, a more experimental affair, in late 2014.

Where Can I See Them?

Foxygen are playing The Lantern on Monday 11 April with support from former Artist of the Week, H Hawkline.
